Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The brain processes numerous information related to scenes for appropriate cognition and judgement in daily life. Here, the strategy for cognition and judgement is individually different due to distribution of attention and its reflected eye movements. In the present work, we focus on task proficiency and measure human brain activities (EEG: Electroencephalogram) and eye movement during visual cognition task to clarify the relationship between them. In the experiment, several driving scenes are utilized as a visual cognition task. EEGs and eye movements were recorded from 16 healthy subjects (15 males and 1female) aged from 20 to 23 years with having normal vision or corrected to normal with glasses or contact lenses using different three types of driving scenes (Scene-A: with traffic jam, Scene-B: in urban area, and Scene-C, in highway). The subjects classified into expert or beginner based on their frequency of driving a vehicle. First, we analyzed eye movement in expert and beginner subjects during the task. We confirmed that expert subjects have wider field of view than beginners. It indicated that an attention map of experts is wider than one of beginners. We also confirmed that significant higher alpha activity and lower beta activity was observed in the expert subjects, and vice versa in the beginner subjects. Those results indicate the possibility that range of field of view is predictable from the brain activity: the high alpha and low beta activity related to wider field of view, and vice versa. |
