Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this research, we studyed on a method to extract common basic shape and motion elements using motion capture data for various target parts expressed as non-manual signals of Japanese sign language. We focused on the method of automatically extracting the common unit of the manual signal proposed by Ariga et al. This technique is the part of an HMM(hidden Markov model)-based automatic recognition system of sign language. In this paper, we try to verifiy whether the Ariga's method can extract common unit for the non-manual signal of sign language.
