Abstract(in English) | In recent years, the utilization of the 920 MHz band for the Internet of Things (IoT) has been rapidly spreading because of advantages of excellent radio wave reachability and less interference, and development and implementation of large-scale wireless multi-hop networks in the 920 MHz-band for IoT using interference avoidance technology such as Media Access Control (MAC) protocol and frequency hopping have been promoted. The typical systems in the 920 MHz-band are the Time Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) method (i.e., a synchronous MAC protocol compliant with IEEE 802.15.4/4e)-based system, and the Wireless Smart Utility Network Field Area Network (Wi-SUN FAN) system that uses an asynchronous MAC protocol compliant with IEEE 802.15.4. Both systems have already been commercialized and the inter-system interference that occurs when systems using these different MAC protocols share the same frequency channel band in 920 MHz-band should be concerned. In order to discuss the co-existence possibility of heterogeneous wireless communication systems based on these different protocols, it is necessary to quantitatively evaluate intra-system interference and inter-system interference of each system. In this report, we evaluate the case of simultaneously operating of the synchronous system based on TSCH and the Wi-SUN FAN system based on asynchronous MAC protocol by computer simulation and study the possibility of co-existence. |
