Microwave assisted magnetization switching experiments on CoCrPt granular media

Abstract(in English) Microwave assisted magnetization switching (MAS) has been expected as one of the prominent future ultra-high density magnetic recording technologies. In MAS, magnetization switching field is reduced by exciting magnetization precession with microwave field. In this work, we have employed Si wafer as a high thermal conductivity substrates, which works as a heat sink during microwave field application. We have successfully suppressed temperature increase by the Joel heating, and have demonstrated MAS experiments on CoCrPt granular media with continuously applied microwave field. Clear assistance effect of 13 % was observed for hrf = 240 Oe, at which no significant assistance effect was observed with pulsed microwave field. The assistance effect reaches to 70 %, for the maximum microwave field amplitude hrf = 950 Oe.
