Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) NFV-nodes with DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) based on Commercial off-the-shelf servers cannot handle incoming traffic at the speed of 100 Gbps+, while NFV offers practical benefits like flexible deployment and operation cost. Our past studies have revealed that per-core CPU performance is the bottleneck of packet processing in NFV-nodes, and parallelizing the I/O processing is a promising approach; however, traditional methods using RSS (Receive Side Scaling) do not boost per-flow performance. We propose a yet another parallelization that allows packet groups of a same flow are handled in parallel by increasing the number of datapath for each flow. In this paper, we present implementation details of our parallelization applied to a driver of Mellanox ConnectX-5, as well as its evaluation results. The results showed that current implementation has the space to be further parallelized and a reordering mechanism for outgoing packets cannot be omitted.
