Abstract(in English) To promote interop¬erable open standards for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication, Wireless Smart Utility Network Field Area Network (Wi-SUN FAN), which configures very large-scale multi-hop networks, has been standardized. In the Media Access Control (MAC) layer of Wi-SUN FAN, Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) and Channel Hopping (CH) are adopted to avoid interferences between devices. The CH changes the operational channel based on a channel schedule. The applied channel schedule is dominant for both unicast and broadcast transmission performances. In this report, the impact of channel schedule on the network performance is studied to enhance the unicast transmission throughput. The transmission throughput of a Wi-SUN FAN system in a tree topology is evaluated by computer simulations in various channel schedule configurations. From the simulation results, the CH needs to be adopted, and the Broadcast Interval (BI) coefficient should be set to 70 to enhance the unicast transmission throughput and preserve the broadcast frames transmission interval to be 131 s. With these proposed parameters, the unicast throughput increases by up to 14.2 % compared to the case of default configurations.
