Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study, we propose a CNN-based recognition method of upward staircases for the visually impaired. Environmental images are obtained by a smartphone camera, and are segmented into step candidate regions, left and right-side candidate regions, and the other regions by use of window-based CNN. By verifying the sizes and arrangement of the candidate regions, upward staircases are recognized. Experimental results are shown.
