Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We are investigating the optical-TDM aggregation network for realizing cost- and energy-efficient metro networks. In such a network, the optical burst-mode amplifying technology must be required to avoid the impact of overshoot caused by transient response in EDFA. So far, a gain-clamping method that can suppress the transient response has been proposed and demonstrated in access networks. It has been clarified that much higher-power gain-clamping signal can completely suppress the transient response, however, such high-power signal can cause another transmission penalty in metro networks. In this paper, we experimentally evaluate the impact of gain-clamping signal not only on transient response but also on another transmission penalty. Moreover, error-free optical burst transmission is successfully demonstrated even over field-installed aged single mode fiber.
