Indoor Path Loss Measurements at 900 MHz Band Using LoRaWAN Terminals

Abstract(in English) Among low power wide area networks (LPWANs) which offer a power-saving transmission with a wide area coverage at low cost for devices supporting Internet of Things (IoT), a LoRaWAN is the only one that can construct a private network. In this paper, we evaluate indoor path losses at 900~MHz band using two LoRaWAN terminals, which are usable for anyone, by measuring received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of the terminal at three different locations in the same building. As a result, it has been observed that the path loss exponent and the attenuation amount change depending on the size of the room and the number of the reflection surfaces. In addition, it has been confirmed that there is a break point in the path loss curve used for the measurement results of the straight corridor with no obstacle.
