Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Partial shading on a photovoltaic (PV) panel consisting of multiple substrings is known to trigger significant reduction in power yield and occurrence of multiple maximum power points (MPPs). Although the adoption of a differential power processing (DPP) converter can eliminate the negative influences of partial shading by virtually equalizing electrical characteristics of all substrings, an additional DPP converter is separately required in addition to a step-up converter for panel control, resulting in increased circuit volume and system complexity. This paper proposes an integrated converter that realizes system simplification and circuit miniaturization by integrating a step-up converter and a DPP converter. The experimental equalization tests for four substrings connected in series were performed emulating partial shading conditions. With the proposed converter, a local MPP vanished and the power yield increased by 21.7% while boosting the panel voltage, demonstrating the efficacy of the proposed integrated converter. |
