Reflection Coefficient Measurement at Oblique Incidence of Artificial Magnetic Materials

Abstract(in English) This paper reports the reflection coefficient measurement result in the artificial magnetic material under oblique incident waves. The artificial magnetic material samples in which broadside coupled split ring resonators arranged in two dimensions were fabricated. In the unit cell, two split ring resonators were faced each other. The reflection coefficients under TE and TM wave incidences were measured, which results for single-layer sample tended to roughly match to predicted by transmission line theory at both TE and TM wave incidences, and the semi-Brewster's angle under TM wave incidence was estimated to be 68 °. Thereby, it turns out that the artificial magnetic material sample used in this research can be regarded as a uniform medium. In addition, in order to improve impedance matching, another sample in which split ring resonators were arranged different directions was stacked, and it was confirmed that a reflection coefficient under -20 dB can be obtained at a resonance frequency even under oblique incident waves.
