Throughput Enhancement with Edge Overlay Using Commodity Devices in Data Center Networks

Abstract(in English) VLAN and edge-overlay provide virtual networks in data centers. In particular, edge-overlay is widely used because it can build virtual networks over IP networks. Although the non-encapsulation edge-overlay network virtualization is proposed as an approach for throughput enhancement, it increases load of control plane in proportion to the number of L4 sessions established between all virtual machines in a data center. In this paper, we propose an approach which enhances throughput and reduces load of control plane using the non-encapsulation edge-overlay virtualization and Hoverboard Gateway Model which is proposed to reduce load of SDN controllers.
