Wireless Transmission Technologies for Severely Doubly Selective Channels

Abstract(in English) This paper discusses wireless transmission technologies for severe time- and frequnecy-selective channels, i.e., doubly selective channels. Doubly selective channels are a serious problem for underwater acoustic communications (UWAC) and land mobile acoustic communications. First, this paper discusses actual parameters on doubly selective channels for radio frequency (RF) wireless communications and acoustic communications. Next, this paper discusses multi-carrier differential space-time coding and its demodulation schemes based on channel prediction for severely doubly selective channels. Finally, this paper shows experimental results of channel environment and bit error rate (BER) performance measured by an off-line acoustic communication performance evaluation equipment using electronical acoustic devises, where experiments are performed in an experimental acoustic pool and an actual shallow underwater envirnment.
