Abstract(in English) A calving sign detection system using cows' state-based and motion-based features is successfully designed. The developed system exploiting only state-based features was shown to be effective in calving sign detection, but it can not capture a characteristic of movements related to calving signs (e.g., rotate, turn). This study presents a two-stage calving sign detection system, in which calving-relevant state and motion information obtained by multitask CNN-based feature extractor is taken as inputs to another LSTM-based calving sign detector. Experimental comparisons demonstrated that the developed system achieved a calving precision ratio of 83% and a calving recall ratio of 78% and the use of motion-based features helped to improve the accuracy.
