Diffraction of an EM wave by a rectangular hole in a thick conducting screen

Abstract(in English) The transmission coefficient of a rectangular hole is calculated for various aspect ratios and some incident angles by making use of the exact solution that was obtained by the Kobayashi potential (KP) method when an EM plane wave is impinged on the aperture in a thick conducting screen, and we examine the effect of the aperture shape, screen thickness, and polarization of incident wave on the transmission property of the rectangular hole. The results of transmission coefficient, aperture distribution, and power flow (the Poynting vector) around the aperture are compared with those by the finite element method (FEM), and for parts of the results we discuss the relation between the meshing of the FEM and its calculation accuracy.
