A study on a calculation method of inductance for wireless power transmission coils in various positional relationships

Abstract(in English) This paper describes a simple calculation method of coil parameters required to design and evaluate performance of wireless power transmission using the magnetic resonance method. In order to design the wireless power transmission system taking into account of various positional relationships of resonant coils using a circuit simulator, it is necessary to evaluate the change of coupling coefficient of coils depending on the positional relationship. Since the coupling coefficient varies depending on the coils’ shape, size, number of turns, etc., it is necessary to calculate the change of the coil parameters before the circuit simulation. In this research, we develop a tool to calculate self and mutual inductances of air core coils easily by using Neumann's formula, and report some findings on the accuracy of the numerical method and results of coupling coefficients by changing distance and angle between transmitting and receiving coils.
