Abstract(in English) A method has been proposed for measuring circumferential strain in ring structures by fitting a model of the Brillouin gain spectrum (BGS) to the BGSs observed distributedly in an optical fiber installed around a ring. In this method, Fourier coefficients included in the model to describe the strain to be measured are determined. In this report, this circumferential strain measurement method for the ring is expanded into that for more general ring-shaped structures such as elliptical and square rings. We measured the strain of both the rings under concentrated and distributed loads by simulations, and investigated the strain measurement errors. The strain measurement errors were approximately the same, independent of the applied loads and cross sectional shapes, including the ring investigated previously. These results indicate that the circumferential strain method expanded by us is available for general ring-shaped structures.
