Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Service Function Chaining (SFC) that enables end-users to utilize various network service function is attracting a lot of attention. Segment Routing (SRv6) is one of promising methods to realize SFC, where packets are steered by adding SRv6 header (SRH) at edge routers. However, we need to update edge router’s SRv6 policies whenever Service Functions are newly deployed or displaced. It is difficult to keep up-to-date SRv6 routes for SFC at edge router because Service Functions implemented as containers or VMs frequently changed. In this paper, we propose a novel Service Function Chaining mechanism with SRv6 that utilizes the abstracted routing information of Service Function groups. Avoiding effects of the frequent changes, the abstracted routing information enables stable traffic steering in the WAN. We also propose a mechanism to re-convert the abstracted routing information into original routing information. Further, we evaluate the effectiveness of our mechanism.
