Abstract(in English) | 8K ultra-high definition (UHD) videos are used for medical, digital signage, and other areas. We have proposed systems to deliver uncompressed 8K videos through wide-area network. Switching multiple 8K videos is necessary for linear video editing process. However, since our proposed system delivers the video using IP multicast, it requires a few seconds to switch to resynchronize between IP video transmission devices, and between display interfaces. We propose a new uncompressed 8K videos switching method using a software packet switch on the transmission path to minimize resynchronization time. We implement the video switch software with Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK), and we prove to switch two 25.6-Gbps uncompressed 8K videos within one frame. In this paper, we describe detail of our proposed method and results of live video switching experiment, held by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, in Feb. 2019. |
