Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Nonlinear lattice is a mathematical model for spatially discete medium with nonlinerity. Spatially localized modes emerge in a variety of lattice models, which are called Discrete Breathers (DBs). It is known that there exist standing and traveling wave type DBs. In this article, we review some basic properties of both types of DBs. Then, focusing on the traveling DB, we %dscribe its propagation properties in detail and show that its propagation property strongly depends on a certain hidden symmetry of the lattice potential function: the symmetry leads to high mobility of DB. Finally, we discuss how the symmetry influences heat transport of the lattice.
