Measurement of venous hemodynamics with the internal pressure measuring device for the ear canal

Abstract(in English) We detected the change of the internal pressure of the ear canal using the acoustic sensors in our previous study, showing some similarities to the change of the jugular venous pressure. In this study, to elucidate functional correlations between the change of the ear canal pressure and the change of the jugular venous pressure, we performed a postural change experiment, ultrasound imaging of the jugular vein, and water intake or water discharge by sauna bathing. The ear canal pressure functionally altered in accordance with physiological changes, suggesting that the ear canal pressure is derived from the jugular venous pressure.
