Abstract(in English) | Recently, Dynamic Adaptive Streaming (DAS) over Information Centric Networking (ICN) which exploits the in-network cache of ICN has attracted attention. In DAS, the caching function of ICN reduces redundant traffic and improves the client’s watching video quality against the use of the network resources. However, in the Video-on-Demand (VoD) scenario, retrieving video segments from the cache causes a problem when multiple clients request different quality of the same video, these clients compete to get bandwidth and the different requests make congestion worse. This problem excessively increases or decreases the watching video quality of each client, and adversely affects communication quality and Quality-of-Experience. In this paper, to solve the above problem, we propose to manage each client’s watching video quality centrally by the nearest edge router capable of accommodating multiple clients. Specifically, we propose a scheme to not only alleviate the unnecessary watching video quality change but also to improve the cache and bandwidth utilization efficiency by advertising the controlled upper limit of the watching video quality. In the evaluation experiment, we use the simulator to clarify the influence on the cache and bandwidth utilization by using the control which simply increases the upper limit of the watching video quality. |
