Abstract(in English) | 8K UHDTV needs efficient coding since it has 32 times larger amount of data than current HDTV. However, computational complexity of video coding becomes higher and higher instead of improvement of its compression efficiency. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the 8K UHDTV coding performance of H.265/HEVC. Our proposal method pre-analyses spatial frequency and motional complexity of input video, and estimates an optimal GOP (group of pictures) size or intra/inter prediction mode. Experimental results suggest that our proposal can improve coding efficiency or reduce computational time by selecting optimal GOP size or prediction mode. |
