Consideration on the effect of pixel resolution and JPEG encoding on detection accuracy of road sign

Abstract(in English) Currently, various driving support technologies have been developed toward the realization of automated driving system of automobiles. Automatic recognition of road signs is also one of its important technologies. In this research, on the recognition of road signs, we focus on the influence of pixel resolution and its quality for road sign images. By changing the pixel resolution using the bi-cubic method and the image quality using JPEG encoding, various test image are obtained. For these images, we perform road sign detection using Faster R - CNN and consider the influence of image resolution and quality on detection accuracy.
