Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the electrophysiological experiment in vivo, it is necessary to specify the insertion position of the microelectrode, however existing methods have limitation in its spatial resolution and tissue damage. Here we propose a novel marking method using noble metal plated metal microelectrodes, and the plated tip drops in the living organ after electric current is applied. Gold-plated tungsten electrodes were inserted into the mouse brain and a spiking neuronal response was recorded, and then a marking point of about 30 μm could be observed by applying biphasic pulse of 20 μA. This resolution is several times higher than existing methods.
