Abstract(in English) | The architecture of the 5G mobile core (5GC) specified in 3GPP Rel. 15 is based on the control and user plane separation (CUPS), and it is expected that the distributed deployment of UPF having the user plane function realizes the ultra-low latency services and efficient traffic accommodation. In the future introduction of 5GC and CUPS-extended-EPC, after sufficiently evaluating changes in system load level and equipment cost reduction effect by introducing CUPS, it is necessary to reflect those results in network equipment planning. Furthermore, it is also important to decide the optimum number of divisions of user plane node from the different requirements such as low latency and equipment cost. Therefore, in this study, basic evaluation for CUPS is carried out through the simulation using a simple mobility model. In addition, while distributed deployment of user plane nodes is being promoted toward realization of low latency services, regarding the number of node divisions, it is clarified whether there are use cases or situations that should be watched with considering equipment cost perspective as well. |
