Abstract(in English) | The ICA-DCT hybrid typed image coding method which uses both DCT bases and ICA bases appropriately for each small spatial region of a given input image in the rate-distortion sense has been proposed to obtain the higher coding performances than the ordinary orthogonal transform coding like JPEG. However, our conventional method has a problem that the amount of additional information needs to preserve a set of ICA basis themselves in each image. This paper presents an effective detection method of the optimum ICA basis to improve the image quality at the lower bit rate. It is seen in our experimental results that the PSNR of our coding method using the optimum ICA basis is improved slightly compared to the case of only DCT bases at the same bit rate. |
