Study on FDTD Analysis Method of Differential Lines Including Dielectric Loss at GHz Band

Abstract(in English) In this research, analysis method incorporating dielectric loss of actual substrate into FDTD method is established in order to improve the analysis precision of the transmission characteristics of the differential line at GHz band, and the influence on the pass characteristic $S_{dd21}$ of the differential line is investigated. The dielectric loss of actual substrate is measured by balanced disk resonator and incorporated to Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method. The result of pass characteristics measured by Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) and calculated by FDTD method are agreement. Since the dielectric loss of actual substrate is incorporated to FDTD method, it can be possible to get accurate analysis coincided with actual electromagnetic field phenomenon. When the length of the line is 100mm, pass characteristics of the FR-4 decrease about 8dB and of the BT Resin is about 4dB at 20GHz band. The electric field of the Z component is dominant in the substrate. The complex permittivity measured by balanced disk resonator is necessary to calculate at GHz band.
