Evaluation of Dynamic Placement Method for Virtual Desktop Server depending on Characteristics of User Operation

Abstract(in English) In recent years, there is a very serious issue of the information leak by stolen and lost PC. As one of the information securities, many companies consider shifting from the physical environment saving data in laptop devices to the virtual environment using thin client devices and saving data in online storage on public clouds. However, when using virtual desktops from thin clients, a huge delay between user operation and screen drawing is caused by inside overheads of the input process, the output process, image process, and so on. Now, in this paper, we propose dynamic placement method of virtual desktop servers depending on quantity of operation traffic from thin clients to applications and from applications to storage servers. Furthermore, we evaluate the effectiveness of proposed method in the subjective evaluation based on user satisfaction.
