Fast Connection to Local Spot Cell using Virtual Pre-Connection Scheme

Abstract(in English) In the 5th generation mobile communication system (5G), the usage of higher frequency bands including millimeter-wave bands has been studied. However, since the cell size becomes smaller and the area development based on the homogeneous network becomes more difficult, heterogeneous networks with macro-cell and micro-cell have been investigated. Meanwhile, a local 5G working group aimed at the application of the advanced technologies in 5G to a private network has promoted the exploitation of the new services at low cost by small start-up companies. However, without the assistance of macro cells, fast connection is difficult to be provided to highly-mobile users due to the connection delay to local spot cells. In addition, installation of macro cells for assistance is costly, and thus, impairs inexpensive services. In this paper, we propose a virtual pre-connection scheme allowing high-speed connection to local spot cells without the assistance of macro cells. In addition, we empirically verify the usefulness of the proposed scheme.
