Lighting Method for Capturing Fingerprint-of-Things on Diffuse Surface

Abstract(in English) Recently a tag/marking-less ID method “Fingerprint of Things (FoT)” has been proposed. It can identify each individual of same parts by matching images of micro features on parts surface. In this paper, we propose a lighting method for capturing FoT on diffuse surface. Proposed method calculates lighting angle range from surface normal distribution to capture high-contrast image by reducing low angle light from the calculated range. Experimental results show that the FoT on white material with strong diffuse reflection is captured with high contrast and robustly identified.
