Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we propose a novel color correction scheme based on the CIELAB color space. Image processing methods considering hue information have already proposed, but hue definitions utilized in those methods do not sufficiently take into account human visual perception. The proposed scheme employs the hue definition in CIEDE2000, which is a model for calculating perceptual color difference between two colors. In accordance with the hue definition, the proposed hue correction method perfectly removes hue difference between a color distorted image and a reference image. Furthermore, the use of a gamut mapping method in the proposed scheme enables us to compress a gamut into an output RGB color gamut, without hue changes. The proposed scheme can be applied to any image processing method, and distorted colors will be corrected by the proposed scheme while maintaining effects of the image processing method. Experimental results show that the proposed method can completely correct hue differences between a reference image and an image produced by an image enhancement method. In addition, the proposed method is also demonstrated to maintain effects of image enhancement, in terms of discrete entropy and statistical naturalness. |
