Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Public libraries have recently been required to promote services for users with print disability. They have failed to produce and provide multimedia DAISY books demanded by users. In order to solve this problem, the authors conducted a survey of the current situation, and attempted to establish a liaison with Ohira Library, Tochigi City, as a first step to a network of multimedia DAISY producers. The survey showed that the DAISY content service is limited by the inadequate production systems, unlike in the case of other products for the disabled. The experience in the liaison with Ohira Library demonstrated the possibility of involvement of other producers in producing and providing multimedia DAISY documents that meet the users' needs in public libraries.
