Performance Evaluation of TCP Congestion Control on Smartphone OS

Abstract(in English) Currently iPhone and Android phones are used as smartphone devices widely. Android OS accounts for the majority of global OS share for smart phones. However, in some countries such as Japan, the share of iOS and Android OS is halved. For consumers, communication performance is also important as a selection criterion when purchasing smartphone terminals. There are many versions of TCP congestion control, and each version is an algorithm that fits the usage environment. In general, it is not known what type of congestion control algorithm iOS TCP congestion control is using. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of iOS TCP flow and Android TCP flow when it is independent and coexistent. We also estimate iOS TCP congestion control algorithms and parameters used in relatively recent versions.
