Abstract(in English) | This study develops a new systematic control method of signals for a traffic flow model represented by the burgers' cellular automaton in order to minimize the total number of traffic jam. Especially, an extension of the authors' previous results to the case where multi-cars can be stored in one cell is considered. First, it is shown that an optimal control problem with the objective function on the total number of traffic jam is formulated as a nonlinear integer programming problem. Next, a new algorithm to solve the optimal signal control problem based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). Then, some numerical simulations show that the new control method can reduce the total number of traffic jam the most in the three methods. |
