3D Point Cloud Data Simplification Method for Electromagnetic Simulation in Indoor Environment

抄録(和) Nowadays, using point clouds to do electromagnetic (EM) simulation has been attracting a lot of attention since point clouds could provide more accurate data to describe real environments. However, usually one point cloud file contains millions of points data and as well as a lot of noise points. Directly using raw point clouds data for EM simulation will bring problems. Therefore, in order to enhance the accuracy of the result of EM simulation, not only we need to consider how accurately the model describes the real environment but also consider how to simplify the model. In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm of 3D reconstruction of indoor environments from point clouds based on region growing and RANSAC. By considering the roles and functions of different extracted planes and their relation with other planes, we can reconstruct the simplified but still accurate model in a short time.
