To overcome the impairment caused by optical filtering at ROADMs/OXCs and achieve an ICT infrastructure with the required level of resiliency, we developed shared protected coarse granular optical routing networks with fine granular add/drop operations. The performance of coarse granular routing optical network architectures that adopt coarse and fine granularity shared protection schemes is evaluated. Numerical experiments verifies that both of shared protected grouped routing networks can reduce the necessary number of fibers over the conventional shared-protection networks by up to 15-20%. |
