In recent years, interest in wireless localization technologies has been growing extensively. There are several approaches to perform localization, and a popular approach is the fingerprinting method. RSS is a commonly used location fingerprint in literature, but many researchers have pointed out that these fingerprints may differ significantly depending on hardware utilized. Signal strength difference (SSD) fingerprints have been proposed to solve this issue. In this paper, the optimum layout of Rx sensors for the case of SSD fingerprints is obtained using numerical optimization techniques through computer simulations in order to minimize the mean distance error over a certain area. |
