We proposed a dielectric properties determination technique whereby the dielectric constant and loss factor are extracted from the measured reflection coefficient. The high frequency reflection coefficient shows the effect of the upper layer, while the extracted dielectric properties of the lower medium can be determined at the lower frequency. This paper presents the effect of noise on the dielectric properties determination of the proposed method. In this study, we performed the noise approximation for reflected wave and dielectric properties can be calculated from reflection coefficient of the material under test in the frequency range from 1 to 11 GHz. The dielectric constant and loss factor of dielectric properties are extracted by using reflection coefficient values and the dielectric properties are compared with respect to the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). It was found that the reflection coefficient with SNR more than 40 dB provides the accurate dielectric properties determination. |
