Minimum Size Design of Capacitive Coupler for Wireless Power Transfer to Achieve Specified Power Efficiency

(in English) We are interested in minimum size design of capacitive coupler for wireless power transfer. There is a trade-off between miniaturization and high efficiency, and optimal design is difficult because how they mathematically relate to each other is not clear. Therefore, we formulate their relation. We characterize power efficiency taking not only the loss of the coupler but also the loss of two-port matching circuits into account. Using the deduced formula, we can design necessary and sufficient dimension of electrode that enables the coupler to achieve specified power efficiency. The result of this work is useful for designing capacitive coupler for use in lightweight crafts such as small drones.
