A method for predicting rain attenuation in millimeter-wave wireless mesh networks

(in English) MilliMeter-Wave (mmW) backhaul networks flexibly expand the service area of cellular system where dense small cells are deployed. However, mmW is decayed by heavy rainfall. This report proposes a method for predicting Rain Attenuation (RA) in mmW mesh networks. The proposed method learns relations between a time series of RA of a link and time series of VAriograms (VAs) of its neighbor links. VA is defined as the square of difference between two values. After a sufficient number of learning, the method can predict RA of the link by using learning relations between RA and VA of similar rainfalls in the past. Computer simulations show that the proposed method predicts RA accurately.
