Utilization of Smart Devices by Elderly People and Other Age Groups

(in English) Recently, the smartphone penetration continues to grow. On the other hand, the number of smartphone users 60 years and older is fewer than that of other age groups according to a survey reported by the government. It seems that few elderly people are interested in using smartphones. However, other survey conducted among smartphone and feature phone users showed elderly people’s positive attitude toward smartphones same as that of other age groups. In this paper, we conducted web-based survey about smartphone and feature phone utilization among different age groups. The result suggested findings about a method to encourage smartphone use by elderly people who are interested in smartphones.
