In this paper, the design of a microstrip patch array antenna integrated with electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure and stub-filters is presented in order to provide a high gain at the operating frequency of 2.45 GHz. The antenna array consists of 4 x1 rectangular patches is designed, simulated and optimized in Computer Simulation Technology Microwave Studio (CST MWS) software. In the presence of EBG structure and stub-filters, the gain of the antenna increases from 3.665 dB to 9.112 dB at 2.45 GHz. It also shown that the proposed antenna design is able to suppress the higher order harmonics over a wide range of frequencies from 3 to 8 GHz.The simulated and the measured results are in a good agreement, which validates the suggested antenna design. |
