Permittivity measurement of low-loss material by installation into microwave cavity

(in English) Nonuniform fields resulted from a insertion slot decrease the accuracy of permittivity measurement by cavity method. A correction technique for the nonuniform fields has been proposed by utilizing the linear relationship between the changes in resonant properties and the insertion length of a sample. In this paper, we characterized a cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) at 6.5-13 GHz frequency band by measuring TE10n modes as a sample is inserted into the rectangular cavity, and quantitatively confirmed the correction method not only improved the accuracy but also reduced the uncertainty due to the linear fitting over results of different insertions.
