In the fifth generation mobile communication system (5G) and high-resolution automotive radar systems, beam-scanning is required for array antennas. Butler Matrix has been widely used as a beam-forming network for multi-beam array antennas. However, a conventional Butler Matrix composed of microstrip line shows the disadvantage of transmission due to the high loss in the millimeter-wave band. In this work, Butler Matrix is designed at 79 GHz using a finline in double layer dielectric substrate. The closed structure of finline in multilayer dielectric substrate reduces the radiation loss of the Butler Matrix. Amplitude and phase on output terminals of Butler Matrix are investigated by simulation in this paper.
