Numerical Techniques for Wideband Power Amplifier Design

(in English) A numerical technique is applied to wideband power amplifier (PA) design. Specifically, a simplified transistor model is proposed and linear multi-harmonic calculations are used to solve transistor voltage and current waveforms, i.e. finding the PA output power and efficiency under given excitation conditions. It is demonstrated how this technique may be applied to a single-input distributed PA design. The usefulness of the numerical predictions is verified by good agreement with simulations using nonlinear GaN transistor models showing 67-73% drain efficiency over 2-4 GHz.
