Broadband high-speed networks permit many new services that provide rich contents, such as sound and video delivery. However, such the content delivery services would cause the increase of server load and the deterioration of quality of service. A P2P-based video delivery service, known as P2PTV, is becoming rather popular recently. When the P2PTV is watched in a manner similar to TV, channel zapping may occur frequently. The channel zapping would give a large impact to the network resource because the connections will be changed at short intervals due to P2P characteristics. In this paper, we estimate and model the impact in the transient state of P2PTV traffic. We also propose an estimation method when the channel zapping occurs. |
