Hemispheric dominance for facial expression judgment under brief exposure duration

(in English) Present study examined the hemispheric dominance for facial expression processing. Twenty-two right-handed participants were presented pleasant, unpleasant, neutral facial expression to their left or right visual fields under brief exposure duration followed by conducted to two-alternative forced-choice of pleasant or unpleasant for target facial expression. Trial was consisted of duration block (20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80ms), and it was carried out in order from the short one. Results indicated the facial expressions were perceived more efficiently by the right hemisphere than by the left hemisphere. These findings suggested that right hemisphere specialized to process facial expression.
