Composite Right/Left-Handed Transmission Line (CRLH-TL) using Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) under cutoff with floating-conductor (SIW type CRLH-TL) for millimeter wave frequency has been proposed by the authors. This paper proposes a SIW type CRLH-TL of tri-plate structure suppressing the radiation from the floating-conductors. It consists of SIW with slit apertures, and a metal-patched dielectric film. A prototype of SIW type CRLH-TL of tri-plate structure that satisfies the balance condition is designed. Dispersion diagram and S-parameters are derived numerically, and typical field distributions of the RH and LH transmission and the zero-order resonance are shown. Because both the layers of the SIWs and the metal-patched dielectric film compose simple planar periodic structure, the SIW type CRLH-TL of tri-plate structure has advantage of simple manufacturing. It is expected to be one of the basic structure of CRLH-TL or components such as LH coupler above 10 GHz or millimeter wave frequency. |
