Rain attenuation characteristics of Ku-band satellite communications links are investigated in the wet season of the tropical region. The Ku-band satellite signals are obtained using those of Superbird C satellite that connects Equatorial Atmosphere Radar (EAR) in Indonesia and Japan. The distribution of rain clouds is measured by X-band meteorological radar at EAR. The duration time of rain attenuation is estimated from the horizontal distribution and moving speed of the X-band radar echoes. The average duration time is found to be longer due to much slower moving speed than in Japan.
