Effects of rain clouds in the wet season on the Ku-band satellite communications links in the tropical region

抄録 （和） 熱帯の雨季におけるKu帯衛星回線の降雨減衰特性の調査研究を行った。衛星の信
号はインドネシアの赤道大気レーダーと日本を結ぶスーパーバードC号機のもの
を取得した。降水運の分布はX帯の気象レーダで測定し、降雨減衰の継続時間を
降水運の水平分布と移動速度から推定した。減衰継続時間は概して日本に比べて
長く、これは雨域の移動速度が日本に比べてずっと遅いことが原因であることが示された。 
（英） Rain attenuation characteristics of Ku-band satellite communications links are investigated in the wet season of the tropical region. The Ku-band satellite signals are obtained using those of Superbird C satellite that connects Equatorial Atmosphere Radar (EAR) in Indonesia and Japan. The distribution of rain clouds is measured by X-band meteorological radar at EAR. The duration time of rain attenuation is estimated from the horizontal distribution and moving speed of the X-band radar echoes. The average duration time is found to be longer due to much slower moving speed than in Japan.
